Evolution Gaming Network Announces Server DetailsEvolution Gaming Network Announces Server DetailsEvolution Gaming Network would like to announce details regarding their state-of-the-art servers to be used for their upcoming product launch.Chicago, IL August 29, 2004 -- Evolution Gaming Network has announced the specifications, and details of the servers that will be used to provide customer services for their upcoming product launch.
The servers will use the AMD Opteron processor, at speeds ranging from 1.4 to 2.2 Ghz, making Evolution Gaming Network the only nation-wide Game Server Provider to deploy only x86-64 processor platforms. They will include 1 to 4 GB of PC2700 memory, and will make use of the Western Digital Raptor series of Hard Disk Drives, the fastest Serial ATA drives on the market.
The real excitement is over the use of the FreeBSD 5 development branch, coupled with Evolution Gaming Network's own development projects. This combination of hardware and software will permit Evolution Gaming Network to be the first Game Server Provider to deploy native 64-bit dedicated servers, side-by-side with legacy 32-bit daemons, and to take full advantage of the x86-64 platform, providing customers with some of the fastest game servers in the United States.
