Kat Carney, a CNN Headline News health anchor for more than three years, has decided to dedicate her talents to helping America's weight-challenged dieters reach their goals and improve their lives. In the past, television viewers have watched her unsuccessfully struggle to overcome a lifelong obesity problem, but today, Carney is happy to report that she has lost 40 pounds on the NutriSystem (AMEX: NSI) Nourish program and just signed on as an official spokesperson to tell the world about it. One of Carney's assignments in her new post will be to host an infomercial honoring a number of dieters who've lost even more weight than she has on the NutriSystem program. Their inspirational stories show how shedding extra pounds -- as many as 121 -- has helped improve their lives on so many levels. She will also host segments on a leading shopping channel promoting the program. "As a medical reporter, I have seen hundreds of diets cross my desk, but NutriSystem Nourish was one that was nutritionally sound, and fit my busy lifestyle. Most importantly, having healthy, pre-portioned meals delivered to my door made it the practical solution, which finally helped me achieve my goal weight. I am delighted to act as an ambassador to the throngs of overweight Americans who want to be healthier and happier, but just don't know what's going to work for them," Carney says. "I know from personal experience how complicated dieting can be, and how extra weight can affect everything from your general health and energy level to your confidence and overall attitude toward life. I'm thrilled that now, I can help dieters everywhere to put their own lives on the fast track to happiness and fulfillment, which is sure to be very rewarding." Carney's infomercial debuts in mid-December, when the 30-minute segment will be syndicated throughout the country. Her segments on the shopping network are slated for early January. She will also be sharing her inspirational weight loss success story in media appearances across the country. "We think it's terrific that Kat has not only used the NutriSystem program to stage a personal transformation, but has decided to shift gears in her career and champion the program in such a passionate and dedicated way," said George Jankovic, NutriSystem's, President and Chief Operating Officer. "Her background is a wonderful complement to our efforts. We look forward to having Kat on our team." Among the 100 foods that NutriSystem offers online, Carney's favorites include: Mini Pretzel Twists, Zesty Herb Snack Mix, Scrambled Eggs with Cheese, Cranberry Granola Bar, NutriCinnamon Squares Cereal, Vegetarian Sloppy Joe, Fettuccini Alfredo with Vegetables & Mushrooms, Chicken Salad, Mushroom Risotto, Chicken Pasta Parmesan and for dessert, NutriChocolate and peanut butter bars. She also loves the Green Tea Gum, as a calorie-burning supplement. Carney's diet program, NutriSystem Nourish, was introduced earlier this year. NutriSystem Nourish is based on low Glycemic Index entrees, snacks and desserts, each with optimal amounts of fat, protein and fiber. The Glycemic Index measures the quality of carbohydrates based on how they impact an individual's blood sugar levels. Carbohydrates with low Glycemic Index ratings -- "good carbs" -- break down slowly in the body, encouraging stable blood sugar levels which help burn fat more quickly and make you less hungry. Beyond acting as an official spokesperson for NutriSystem, Carney also will continue to host two Web sites: Fitatanysize.com, where dieters of all shapes and sizes can share their weight loss strategies and gain valuable advice; and SoulCysters.com, where women who suffer from Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome can go for support. Carney was diagnosed with PCOS several years ago, but through healthy eating habits, she has been able to reverse its effects. Before joining CNN Headline News, Carney was a host on the Discovery Health Channel and Home & Garden Television. Founded in 1972, NutriSystem (AMEX: NSI) is a leading provider of weight management products and services. The company offers a weight loss program based on portion-controlled, prepared meals. The program has no membership fees and provides free online and telephone counseling.Related News:
