IGT Expands Focus on Responsible Gaming

IGT will expand the scope of its responsible gaming program as it joins the gaming industry nationwide in Responsible Gaming Education Week, Aug. 2 - 6. IGT will build on its current responsible gaming (RG) program by including several new or updated components:

* An "Interactive Responsible Gaming Proficiency Program for IGT Employees" which includes a 25-question exam on responsible gaming.

* An "IGT Responsible Gaming Committee" to oversee the company's RG program.

* An updated "IGT Employee Guide to Responsible Gaming."

Responsible Gaming Education Week was created in 1998 by the American Gaming Association (AGA) to promote responsible gaming and heighten awareness of disordered gambling among employees, customers and the general public. This year's campaign focuses on the AGA Code of Conduct for Responsible Gaming, a pledge to make responsible gaming an integral part of operations industry-wide.

"Responsible gaming practices are vital to the sustainability of our business over the long term," said Tom Baker, IGT Chairman and a board member of the National Center for Responsible Gaming. "The 'Code' gives us the basis to build on our current efforts." IGT has worked with the AGA on other aspects of the campaign including the Responsible Gaming Task Force and distribution of the Responsible Gaming Resource Guide and PROGRESS kit to customers and gaming officials, and has helped fund the National Center for Responsible Gaming.
