With rising interest concerning the online casino legal developments in the US, it may be wise to hear a legal point of view on the matter. David Schollenberger, a well respected US lawyer was asked by iGaming Publication to give an opinion. He claims that the US authorities may be putting less effort in legislation and focusing more on federal statutes and existing state when attacking the online casino industry.
He believes that the famous Goodlatte/Leach Bill does not offer too many prospects when attempting to ban online casino and gambling and doubts whether it will make it through the Senate in its current session. It is more likely that the supporters of the bill will run out of time since the legislative session is due to expire by the beginning of October. The anti online casino Bill failed passing through the senate several times already and it appears to be of law legislative priority for moderate senators.
However it is hard to ignore the fact that the US uses current legislation at Federal and state levels to prosecute online casino operators that have long enjoyed a relatively free ground to work on until now. When it comes to the effects of the recent arrest of Peter Dicks, Schollenberger expects the online casino industry to move away from the American Market towards other possible markets. We can only add that Asia seems to show great prospects in that matter so perhaps this is were the future of online casino is at.
