Will the online casino gambling legislation in the United States affect the ability of online casino gamblers in Europe to play games? Only if these gamblers are Americans who have credit cards of the Visa or MasterCard variety connected with American issuing banks. Before now, Americans could pretty much make any form of online casino payment they wanted. While there are a variety of online casino payment methods out there, credit cards were often thought to be the quickest and most convenient.
A lot of Americans like to use their credit cards anyways. But in banning the use of American credit cards at online casino sites, the Congress really felt that it was looking out for the consumer – or so we’ve been led to believe. The competing interests over online gambling in the U.S. might not have included credit card companies one way or the other, but even so they are obligated to comply. Heck, these credit card companies probably did not mind online casino payments, as its one more way to add onto their customer’s monthly bill!
In the future, some sort of loophole may be found which enables online casino companies to once again take payments from American credit card holders. In the meantime, though, these gamblers are prevented by law from playing casino games anyway, so it doesn’t matter if they have alternative forms of payment – which, in theory, they do.
