There is the Federal Law, then there are State Laws, but Washington State Representative Chris Strow wants to talk about the household, one’s own privacy. In a new voice heard in the United States, the Congressman from the northwestern state expressed his opinion that online casino gambling, at the privacy of one’s own home, should in fact be legal. His House Bill 1243 intends to do the legal work in paving the road for this to happen.
The last law passed in the United States, the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of October 2006 makes online casino gambling a taboo in the entire country. Gambling at online casinos will actually be categorized as a Class C Felony by the authorities once the law takes full effect in the coming summer. Why should adults, mature and responsible grown-ups, who wish to pass their time and spend their money at an online casino, in their own living room at home, be classified as criminals, asks Mr. Snow.
Strow is quoted sating "While I do see the need for protecting our citizens from online gambling that may be scamming innocent victims, I do think that there is also a level of accountability, as an adult, to do as he or she chooses in his or her own home." His distinction between online casino sites that are safe and honest, and those that are not, may lead to a more appropriate law that will regulate, legalise and supervide online casino gambling, instead of sweeping it under the carpet and into the arms of criminal elements.
